CFSD closely works with the urban poor to fetch them justice and make them self-reliant. Claiming, securing Human rights has been the Umbrella for CFSD’s intervention in the issues of Urbanization with a focus on “land rights” for the urban poor
CFSD has raised its voice against the rampant pollution being caused by thermal power plants impacting almost 21 villages on the outskirts of Nagpur city. We have been instrumental in the closure of the new “Nandgaon Ash Bund” of the Khaparkheda thermal power plant and are helping the state environment ministry in the restoration and remediation of the ash bund land. With CFSD intervention the state has now initiated to bring in a mitigation plan of all Thermal power plants of the state of Maharashtra ensuring no more new ash bunds and 100% fly ash utilization. CFSD has also been working closely with farmers from WaradandYesamba Village whose lands have been impacted by the coal Washery.
CFSD is presently conducting the Enumeration of waste pickers to advocate for their rights and helping in enrolling 1000 waste pickers of Nagpur in social security schemes, in collaboration with Hasirudala and Alliance of Indian Waste Pickers
